Accommodations

The Velodrome is located 4 miles south of downtown San Jose. The San Jose area and north of downtown includes an area of nearly 1 million people. The traffic during rush hours is very heavy and travel time from hotels 10-20 miles north of the velodrome can take 45 minutes or more.

The two hotels that we recommend for riders and their families during their visit are 3-4 miles South of the velodrome and the trip will take less than 10 minutes by car, or 20 minutes riding on the off-street bike trail. These two hotels are also less expensive than the hotels in San Jose that are north of the velodrome.

The hotel is located 3 miles south of the Velodrome and offers a complimentary airport shuttle (7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily) to San Jose International, shuttle service available for local destinations (within a 5-mile radius) including the Hellyer Park Velodrome, complimentary high-speed wireless internet access, complimentary use of on-site fitness center, business center, heated pool & spa. Adjacent restaurant and bar, room service, and other restaurants and groceries are located within 1 mile. There is a paved, off-street bike path that goes from the hotel parking lot to the parking lot at the velodrome. This path also connects to more than 13 miles of other paved, off-street bike paths in the area.

Special discounted rates are available but you must call the hotel at: 408-972-7800 and ask for the "Hellyer Velodrome Masters Nationals" (HVMN) when contacting the reservations desk. Please make sure when you call that you speak to "in-house" reservations -- meaning actually a clerk at this hotel. When the in-coming lines are full, reservation calls get bounced to the Holiday Inn 800 number and they are not flexible with regards to the room block. The clerks at the San Jose site will accommodate you.

Microwave and mini-fridge may be available at check-in, but cannot be guaranteed. Roll-away single beds may available on request, based on availability.

The suites represent an exceptional value and offer added space and luxury. They include a separate sitting area with a comfortable sofa, chairs, coffee table, and a wet bar, refrigerator and microwave.

Visitors will enjoy a beautiful one bedroom suite or studio suite during their stay, and each suite includes a full kitchen and sofa bed as well as many other ammenities. The included buffet breakfast is outstanding. The Residence Inn is located 4 miles south of the velodrome and there is a group of stores including a supermarket and several restaurants located a block away.

There are a limited number of rooms set aside for riders and their families because the hotel is normally sold out at this time of year due to its popularity with corporate clients hosting interns. We urge you to book your rooms as soon as possible to ensure availability. You must call the hotel directly at (408) 226-7676 ext 604 and ask to speak to Joanne to get the US Cycling Masters Track rate of $139 per night in the block of available rooms.
